So we finally got the 'Cuda finished and set a weekend to take it to Edgewater.
with an engine idea stolen from here..360 TrueStreet Magnum Build
Engine stolen from her moms Durango (200K miles)
Threw a set of bearings and the cam suggested by J.Rob
And a set of EQ 318B's.
We got to the track Fri when they opened and she was able to make 9 passes!!

Big learning curve on the no traction (cooper cobras)
but as she got it figured out she went 96.31 MPH on her best pass!!

We got there late on Sat so she only got 1 Test Pass before the 1st round eliminations.
and the timing computer ate it!! and it was another 98 MPH pass!!
So with no real data to use for her ET we had an ET "auction" while waiting to race and she called it at 14.50.
pretty close guess for a girl who has made less than 30 passes in her life!!

Guy in the 4.6 Mustang can really drive!!

Here's one from in the car, Fast Forward to 3.40

And here She is with the Black Mustang.
Man he can cut a light!!
I told her it just take practice..

first casualty was a plug wire.
What wires is everyone here using?
I want to stay with 7mm because of the Commando valve covers.
Are these any count??

We can't thank the great people on this site for helping us get this all sorted out and to the track. Dany is thrilled by the whole thing.
It is a joy to watch someone be that exited about anything!!

Burn a wire on the exhaust? if you can use the original magnum plug heat shields they work!

It was higher than that and only on the one cyl.
And the pic is the position it was in when it burnt.
Still not missing though!!!

I was able to use 8.5mm wire on my commando - I used the clips not the individual wire retainers

Cool! Remind her to leave as soon as she sees the 3rd amber bulb and she will winning rounds in no time.

Have fun.

I use the DEI version of those thermal sleeves you linked to in post #1. The DEI version sat right against the header tubes on my big block for a lot of years, protecting Moroso Blue Max wires. Worked really well. It was the boot itself that was burning on mine before I added the thermal sleeves.

She started there.
Then went to leaving on the 2nd yellow.
Think I may have her try leaving when the 1st yellow goes out next????

Leaving on the 1st amber would be a disaster...that is 1.5 seconds to get the car out of the beams.

Go to this website and have her use the practice tree....just to get comfortable.
