Dart front fender question

Hey guys, I've searched as much as I can to avoid asking a stupid question but can't seem to find an answer or pictures anywhere. On a 1970 Swinger, behind the front fenders is there any wheelhousing or is it all open to the backside of the engine compartment? My car came in pieces so I'm not sure. Also what color does it normally get painted behind the tire if there isn't anything, body color? Thanks!

Yes there should be a metal splash sheald that plugs the hole in betwen the wheel well and the door so you cant see through in to the wheel well when you have the doors open..
