Does anyone know if '73 or '74 dart sport tail lights will fit in a '74 Duster hole? i like the look of them better and was thinking they might fit easy and could just add a little center piece of sheet metal

THere is a divider between the Dart Sport taillight and backup light. The Duster models were more of a fully rectangle opening with no divider.
Short answer....No.

Do you have a set of Dart Sport Taillights?
Take the set and see if they line up...kinda doubtful. But, who knows?
You could always get a Dart Sport rear panel and have it welded in at Body Shop.
AMD probably sells them.

AMD is out of stock on their Dart Sport panels. I sold an NOS one to a member here a month ago.

What you need is someone with a Dart Sport to take some measurements for you!

When I first saw this thread my first thought was "nope, not gonna work". But after looking at a couple pictures, and then superimposing a picture of a Dart Sport tail over a picture of my car when it had the '74 Duster tail, it's really close. Obviously I'm not gonna find another picture to match mine perfectly, but looking at the tail light buckets online I wouldn't be surprised if they fit.

The problem you're going to have is that Dart Sport tail light housings, bezels and lenses aren't reproduced. And they're pretty expensive, at least on eBay. Ultimately I think the only way you're going to know for sure is to test fit a Dart Sport tail light bucket, which means you're going to have to buy one.

I think it could be done but I didn't realize those tail lights are pretty rare. it would probably be cheaper to put an early duster panel on it but I won't.

Hi there,
Interested to read this thread as I'm in the process of modifying my Dart Sport. I have a number of Dart Sport lights / bezels etc. that I can measure / photograph for you if that's of any use.
As with what I'm doing, I suspect your proposed tail light swap won't be a simple bolt-in job, but that doesn't mean it can't be done.
Let me know if I can help.
