I'm at the point in my 69 Dart resto where I am doing the complete dash while it's out of the car. The original dash pad is stripped of the original ratty cap. Pretty good condition. Years a go I bought a dash cap from Year One or Classic, I don't remember off hand. What is the procedure to put on the new cap and what adhesive would I need. I tried looking for a video on Youtube but didn't find one. I will try to post before and after pics. Thanks.

my dash was cracked pretty bad , found a dash cap on eBay way back when I was building the car .
I took a rough cut file and a very sharp knife and cut/filed the cracked plastic down to where it was even ,with no raised places or humps , it came with a small tube of clear sillicone for glue , I added quite a bit of clear to go with it , but not close enough to the edges to smash out , had short boards and weights ready to leave in place overnight , still looks new and original 14ish yrs. later ...

Thanks for the post. The issue is that I already have a dash cap ready to install. That guy is fabricating a completely new one.
I didn't watch the whole video, but there must have been mention of an adhesive?

I'm recovering the dash pad frame in Gladys RIGHT NOW.

He used a glue gun and gorilla spray adhesive.
I'm using the Gorilla glue adhesive. The catch is, it's not made for vinyl. But the vinyl I'm using has a cotton fabric backing. I'm gonna test a small piece first and make sure it works ok. I should be good.

Gorilla glue gives a very strong hold when used in place of hair spray.. It really takes some effort to pull it off

I found some instructions for the dashcap. It was hidden at the bottom of the box. I can post them if anyone is interested.
