Went down to Temple Texas this weekend for the Day Of The Drags as i do every year.As usual i was the only Small Block Mopar and the only Early Dart running in a sea of Bowtie powered coupes and Tri-5's.I put lots on the trailer but fell asleep at the light and blew it in the 4th round.I also out did my previous best from last year of 11.48 1/4 and a 7.27 in the 1/8 with a great 11.43 1/4 and 7.23 1/8 on my first pass while it was cool air.I was so stoked that nothing could kill my high .That carb spacer and more jetting did the trick as im about 50-60 lbs heavier than it was last year when i ran the 11.48.I got one vid in the heat of the day from onboard against a friend of mine with a roller cammed dual qaud 383 Bowtie .This wasnt my best run of the day (i think it was a low 11.5 on this pass)but it was still fun as i made 12 passes total .The little W2 head 10 to 1 408 with the flat tappet hyd. cam and single 750 carb was breaking lots of hearts. If any of you have a 64 and older hotrod ,drag car ,dragster ,and can make it next year ,you wont be disapointed. There must have been 200 pre 65 cars there .Well heres the vid .Sorry its a little fuzzy ,but my cheapo camera hates the vibration of my Dart ...

Way to go Shocker!I too made my best pass last weekend 11.01@121mph 60 ft was 1.54.This was in 50-60mph winds,so would,ve got a 10.9? for sure.Next season maybe.

Thanks for the compliment man .Sounds like your about to get a 10 second pass for sure.Im not sure i want to go much faster than i am at this track though. If you watch the vid notice how it deadends into a gaurd rail (right after that is a drop into a creek).I had to make a 3 pointer to get in the left lane because the creek is next to the water box as well .My freind and i were both having issues getting it stopped and i was only going 114 .I think he went 117.We were both in the gravel next to the deadend that time .I love this track i just wish the shutdown was a little longer ...

114, that ain't nothin at the river lol, try stopping at 123.58 :-D, i must have make at least 100 passes at that speed, i too loved that track, tell me, is there still a 71 red dart running there by the name of "bigstuff" ? We raced i don't know how many times, we were the only 2 mopars there every friday night kicking everyones asses :bootysha:, he juiced his alot, ran a best of a 10.18 the last time i saw him run back in 06, my best there was a 10.87 NA.

You need to check out Prairie hill dragway.

Does Temple have a web site anymore sence Linda sold it ????

A little story for ya, one night when i was racing at the river, my 1/8 mile was right at 98-99 on most runs, as i was shifting into 3rd. just pasted the 1/8 (right lane) i hit a slick spot, luckily i let off in the nic of time as the car kicked sideways & re-gained its grip, talk about shitting my pants that night, my heart damn near came out of my chest :angel13: was watching over me.

I was the "king" mopar to be beaten at that track every friday night, i loved that feeling :-D

Nice video BTW

Thanks for compliment on my vid Joe.I need to get a better camera .I only race there once a year at this one event (pre 65) because its about 4 1/2 hours away, but its my favorite. Its just got that cool Nostalgia vibe about it .I havent found a site for Little River either.A car club outta Austin puts this deal on every October and they rent the track for the day .Im used to having plenty of shutdown ,so it always makes me a bit nervous at this track .Most of the cars at this turnouts are just poor boying it like me and having fun ,but there were sum heavy hitters there that got in the 8's in the 1/4 on Saturday .It is very cool being the only Mopar Small Block running against an army of Bowties .My Dart always gets alot of attention because of it and sum even think it has a Bowtie motor in it till i open the hood .I actually wrote on the back of my car "This is a Dodge with a Dodge motor " so people would stop asking ...

Hey man, me and my cop buddy were there cheerin' ya on! We were there Friday night and Saturday too, stopped by and chatted with you several times. I'm the guy that knew someone with a '65 Valiant that they were gonna give to me. Turns out I went and picked the Valiant up the following Monday, we're working on it now to get it ready for some action. Gonna keep the /6 in it just to be different.

I was there Friday and Saturday staying in a motor home. We talked a few times. I was the guy with the ragged straw cowboy hat. Your car ran great. I'm still looking for a pre-64 car to build but in the mean time I bought a 71 Duster roller that is a dedicated drag car. Pretty ruff but I'll fix what I don't like and run it for a while. I have a vid from the west side stands of your car running if your interested. The trees are in the way so I could only get about 1/3 of the run. Seeya, Don
