I have a dealer invoice for a 69 Swinger340. It shows options, and trade in, but it doesn't show the cars VIN anywhere. Was this normal practice? Just wondering.

The invoice wouldn't show the trade in as it is just what the dealer paid for. What you have is more likely an intent to purchase document or a preliminary bill of sale.

No, actually it is the final sale invoice. I really meant it had a box for the trade in. My bud never traded anything in. He bought the car outright. It does show the options in pen, like the purchase price, and other info. It went out the door for 3100 and change.

That doesn't sound right. The VIN should be on just about every document associated with the sale. My dad has the original invoice for the '51 Ford convertible he bought new and the VIN is on it. I have a copy of the original invoice and bill of sale for my '69 Formula S (I got them from the MVA, I was only 8 when it was bought new) and the VIN is on both of them.

Yes, thats what I thought, but I guess the dealer either forgot, or just never bothered, because the VIN box is empty. It does show my pals driver license number though,I guess for getting plates, etc.

Probably the case. I sold Dodges for 3 years and saw a lot of similar stuff. BTW, that's a really nice looking car you have there.

Thanks 2shelbys for the info, and thanks for the kind words, your Cuda is a really cool looking car too....very tough stance.
