Death of an American icon!

-
Yeah , sad news . When I was growing up he was like the coolest thing ever... He was about as American as apple pies , baseball , and Mopars !!!:thumblef:=D>

Just the way the wheel can only be invented once, there will NEVER be another stuntman-daredevil such as Evil Knievel. Anyone from here on will be compared to his legendary persona. Thank you for years of entertainment.

He was larger than life and twice as crazy.... rest in peace. :angel5:

I was just reading about that on MSNBC. Everybody has to go someday and by the looks at his failing health maybe it is for the best now so he didn't suffer more later.

RIP Evel.

Chuck

Didn`t he hold the Guiness Book record for broken bones? He was the reason we built ramps to jump our bikes as kids. Ah, the good ol`days. That 70`s movie about him was cool too. What a life, he was the consummate showman!

Yes he was an icon no doubt.I wonder how many members like my self as little kids waited for weeks to see evil's jumps? I think that i probably saw them all and it was in an era when they were televised on regular channels for free of course/long before there was such a thing as payper view. Crazy stunts even by todays standards. Maybe some kind of a tribute dvd of his jumps will come out.

I think a lot of people overlook the fact that he did those jumps on a Harley, not a motocross bike. Now that takes a set!!!

Just spoke with an old freind on the phone about this a few minutes ago. He JUST had Evil sign his bike. Less than an hour later, .... R.I.P EVIL!

Wow, that may have been his final autograph. It wasn`t long ago that the Double Fantasy album that Mark Chapman had Lennon sign (just before he shot him) was sold by a cop I think, as the last autograph of John Lennon. It was very sought after!!!!!

Thats possible. My buddy has a lot in common with Evil. Bike riding, stunt jumpin and lots-o-broken bones. They spent a bit of time talking and tradeing numbers of doctors. He's very excited to see one of his docs.

My bud was rear ended at a savage level and his back was made mush for awhile. 8 discs ruined, more than 8 broken back bones..vertibre...sp??? whatever...
Busted ribs, head trama. Thought he was a gonner. His late 90 something Caddy was less than half the length after impact.

I had one of those wind up EK motorcyles when I was a kid. Big Bummer. Used to watch him jump live.

God Speed Evil Knievel!!!!
