I'm putting my brother-in-laws 76 Duster back together for him. I have a '73 360 from an RV of some type that is supposed to only have 22k miles on it.

I have it down to the shortblock, and was hoping to go no farther, but I'm measuring .105" deck clearance and a .075 piston dish on top of that.

I haven't cc'd the heads yet, but if they are in the middle of the spec, at 71cc, thats aprox 7.5:1 CR. That's like lawnmower territory and will not do.

Is that typical for RV Truck engines? Are the car engines any different?

Thanks.

Nope, the car engines are the same. Welcome to Mopar.

mopars are known for the pistons being deep down in the holes compared to other brand x cars....deck the block

I say buy a 3.79" stroke crank and use stock pistons. Or a 4" stroke crank? I haven't verified it will work yet with stock pistons. And can't get a sure answer from anyone here. I will just have measure that ridge the from bottom to top of deck before the machine shop starts the bore. Good luck. Sincerely jj
