You are a blest young man Bill :happy10::-D:-D

Looks like you are having a great day on your spread enjoying the sun shines of your life :love7:
Good job on the pictures :thumbrig:and so glad you can enjoy sharing some with us, to day is Treva's birthday :happy10:so she is gone treasure hunting and told me to stay home and do some house work, I think I will set on my rear end though :-D

WOW!! Do you have a TV in that stand.

Bow season is on here, but shuts down now for the shotgun hunt. Lots of big deer around this fall.

Looks like a great place you have there Bill. My hunting season has been pretty frustrating at this point. I have bought a non-resident Idaho Bull Elk and Mule Deer tag this year. So far I have hunted for about 20 days and have covered many, many miles. I have killed quite a few nice bucks and bulls over the years, but I am determined to kill a 30" buck this year.

August 30th Archery hunt- I missed a 180" buck with my bow at 55 yards. :munky2:

August 5th Archery hunt- Stuck a 300" bull in the shoulder bone at 40 yards and got about 3" of penetration. :munky2:

October 28th Rifle hunt- Missed a 30"+ buck at 350 yards (I had just hiked up a steep ridge and was winded and buck fever) :munky2:

So far I have passed up quite a few smaller bucks and bulls, but I still have some rifle hunting to do and a late season archery hunt. Wish me luck.

I've been out for 2 days of whitetail hunting so far Bill. Haven't seen a deer yet but they are around. I will be taking a couple of weeks later when the bucks are moving. Great looking family and spread you have there.

Jack

I've been out hunting with my new crossbow for over a month now, mostly Saturdays.
We can get either sex white tail or bear, limit 10 antlerless and two antlered.

Lots of bear sign in these woods.

My buddy saw a bear running full speed down a hill about 65 yards from him and could not get a shot with his bow-too far and too fast.

I have been in my new, to me, tree stand this year and really like being up high-much different world up there than on the ground.

I had a pack of coyotes the size of friggin wolves come up hehind me carrying on but not one of them would show their face as i was itching to shoot one between the eyes.
Wildlife management encourages you to shoot coyotes or wildcats.

My buddy also saw a coyote and missed right under it's belly- he shot too early he said.
He said it was a big sucker, looked more like a wolf.

I can hunt archery all through every season so I am going to do just that since this excalibur crossbow is much more fun than even my rifle.
I was hitting quarter sized stick on targets consistently at 40 yards with my practice block in the back yard and cant wait to drive one through a deer.

I'm getting hungry for the sweet taste of venicin and I'm getting tired of store bought beef with my potatoes and onions.

Rut runs mid November through early December here so they don't get much active until it gets cold.

last year during rut, I had two does follow me into my spot two days in a row.

Second day, the doe came within six feet of me before she spotted me and my buddy- think she was looking for a mate and thought we were stags, ha, ha.

.....you can scoop the damn pests up off US Rt 301 around here. They are as numerous as groundhogs or rabbits. Haven't hunted in years but Md 2010 law states "
Daily Limit

In all counties, there is no restriction that applies to the number of deer that may be taken per day within the season bag limits unless otherwise specified.

Saturday morning is the big day. My son is coming down from Springfield friday evening to hunt with me. The deer have been in the woods and eating acorns more than the feed in my feeders. I'll check the cameras today and i hope i'm pleasantly suprised. Haven't had the cameras out very long so i'm not sure what's out there yet. Forcast is 30% rain so i do need to go up and fill a few holes on the roof before then. If i get any good pics i'll post em for ya. What about you guys? By the way. Sunday we shot the 22.250 at 300 yds and i think i have a pic. The gun is sighted in at 200 yds and we had a cross wind so we were allowing for windage. Here's some pics. As i said we were allowing for evrything. Didn't chage the scope from 200 yd sighting. We held 6.5" high and due to the cross wind we held 6.5" to the left and here's what we did. That orange dot is 2" in dia.. The little gun will shoot better than i can hold it.

Yeah man, that 22-250 is a very succesful deer rifle.

My friend's Uncle uses one and likes it.
He let me shoot it and I was impressed at the long range accuracy myself.

My buddy uses a 257 roberts- talk about a nice deer gun.

Still bow season here in Indiana, and Ive been hot on there trail 8). Havent had the greastest luck but have been having lots of funny like always. I went last saturday and pasted up a decent 8 since I still had alot of season left. Though I did forget my heavier clothes for the cold. I got to my tree strand it was 19 degrees. My boots froze to it :-D lol oh well had fun

here's what the camera had on it. Several does but one decent little buck.

I've got a bunch of those mini deer on my property all day and night finishing up on the apple trees. I have only seen one bull Elk here on his rear legs reaching for apples quite a sight but no photos

Wow!!!!!! That looks like some good traffic to me Bill!!!
We have allot of large acorns on the ground here this year, bigger and allot more then last year.
I will see if I can make a trip up your way Sunday, I will give you a call first

That is some very good shooting Bill. Most people can't even hit the paper at 300 yards. Nice little buck to. I am chasing a pretty good 9 pointer here. I've got him on camera a few times but have yet to see him when I have a gun in my hands.

Jack

I haven't been this year. I've had the opportunity to work on Saturdays and make some extra money however. I've been invited to hunt on some private property. My friend has killed a 8 point,162lb, a 9 point, and doe's there. It's old farm land with 200 something acres and permanent stands (condos) everywhere.

Here's the one Billy got this morning at about 7:45. Thisa is the small one we saw the other day while checking the feeders. Notice he's a meat hunter like dad. At least he left some of the head. He's hanging in the cool air and we're headed back out. 30.30 at about 30 yds in the brush.

Just got the 30-30 sighted in, Mike. Winchester lever action. Man, I love that gun. Great gun where I'm at for the brush surrounding me.

very cool! I just cleaned my Browning A bolt 338win mag in preparation for my big trip up to Alaska, now I just have to go to the range to make sure she is still sighted in properly.

whitetail hunting back east is waaay different than black tail hunting here in northern california. our season ended the 3rd weekend of october, i wish it was still season.
i went out 10 days during the season, hiked for miles, drove for hundreds of miles. saw one buck. a small fork the last day of season, he took off too fast to get a shot.
around here you can go days without even seeing a doe.
it seems deer are everywhere in midwest and eastern states.
maybe i should move. it's been years since i got a buck here.
