Switched trannys in 65 Dart to newer 904 going with Bouchillon kickdown cable & Hurst Pro-Matic shifter. Needing to make some room under car for clearance for cables & hook-ups. I've pounded with hammer & bars & have dented, dimpled what ever you want to call it so cable's clear. I need a little more room but I think I've maxed out what I can do with hammer and chisel, is there tool I can rent or get that will have a little more oomph to move the last 1/4 inch under there. I'm getting arm weary :banghead: I'm along the tranny tunnel and it's getting tough. thanks

I can't exactly picture where you need to dent/stretch, but have you thought about a bottle jack? A 10 ton bottle jack would move some metal.

I need a little room above tranny on drivers side so the bracket's and cable have room to clear going to shifter & kickdown fittings. It appears the newer 904's are a little bigger then 65 904, pretty tight in tunnel area. Maybe there not but seems like it.

Have a small portapower that I got from my uncle who owned a body shop

Should be able to rent one

Thing is you have to have something to push on from both ends

Thanks everyone, we'll get it figured out. Wildcat, love your Dart, I had a 68 Dart GT ragtop for about 10 years looked just like yours. Mine started out gold but kept changing, I think theres pics in my photos of it.
