Hello Everyone,

I have in my possesion a 1973 Scamp. I've been doing some intense rust removal from the inside of the vehicle and really noticed for the first time that the rear windows have a difficult time coming back up once they've gone all the way down. It seems like once they've gone into the door panel, they get hung up on the way up. Anybody encounter this before and know of a remedy? Also does anyone know if they happen to sell any power window sets for the rear windows? I managed to find them for the front, but no success for the rear. Thank you all for the help in advance.

More than likely the regulators need cleaning and freshly greased up. Also is the weatherstripping in good condition,,, to tight against the glass? If so spray the stripping with spray oil not wd40 the other stuff.

I don't know about rear windows on these cars, but the fronts have a rubber stop at the bottom that limits the downward travel of the glass. If that is out of place, the glass will fall below the seals, and be tough to align back up.

Of course you did mention the rust removal. Is this an aside, or do you feel it's related? Perhaps the regulator channels are filled with scale. Do the windows roll up smoothly once you get by the seals?

There are some fancy little plastic rollers in there that cost a mint to replace. Most difficult part of the whole car to service too. Lots of white lithium grease would be the first attempt at curing. Good luck
