I've always preferred 70 and 71 because of tail panel, but I found an extremely clean, rust free 74 with near perfect black interior, and he'll throw in an 8 3/4. 70-72's are more desirable - but will the 73 up be coming around as well ? I'm doing a 440 car so originality wouldn't be an issue. Hate to pass on such a clean car and easy resto - 3500.00. Whaddya think ?

73's are cool too. If you really wanted to you change the tail panel and front clip over to a 70-71.....Sounds like a good deal and a solid car is always nice!

As far as duster's go 70-71's are the best looking years, the '72'
s are ok,'73 and up have those ugly bumpers, ugly grille and the hood and tailights are'nt too appealing either...

Bottom line, 73+ aren't as desirable as 70-72 models.

If you like the car and it's a good deal for you, BUY IT!

Don't worry about what everyone else thinks regarding styling or whatever. There are some things about 73+ cars that are far superior to the 72 down cars. It's all a trade off.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

I agree. They make a new replacement tail panel for the early dusters and one of the demons.

My first Duster was a '72. My favorite car ever. Now I have 2 '73's. Big bolt pattern, and front disk brakes are pretty nice. Like was said before, buy what you like, and make it your's.

Restor them ALL. there arnt enough Mopars on the street. Im sick of seeing all Chevys and Fords...though they are sweet too but of course MOPAR OR NOCAR!!

IMO a 70/71/72 Duster do not look any kind of HOT if it does not have a Shark Tooth grille. I am partial to 73 Dusters/Dart Sports because I have owned both...I dislike 70-72 Grilles/Tail Lights...but thats just me.....

I would get the 74 with the good interior

Here are my ole POJ's:

....sadly I was brought home from birth in a 74 Charger SE :sign10:.

Oh please the '73's have the pointed hood, bigger bumpers, big square taillights, and those generic side markers, and that granny looking grille...

everybody is entitled to their opinion, even if it is wrong.

personally i really like the 73-74 dusters, a nicely done 73 can look nicer than a 70-72.

build what you like.

Do me a favor and stop putting down everyones else opinion, Believe it or not you are not all ways right.

boy oh boy, I could could sure use the back seats if in exc. condition. They need to be the non fold type with the cutout on the lower seat for seat belt retractor mounts, $$$ or trade no 4 door seats, mount spacing is different.

Ill post pix of my 74 this weekend and yall can tell me what you think.

Sorry, just responding to the quote above, after all it is just my opinion..and i'm far far from ever always being right..

Easy there 340... for a guy with an empty photo album you sure do have an opinion on OTHER peoples cars.

BTW: I happen to OWN one of those "Oh please, it's such a granny-looking" `74 Darts.

Plus a pretty nice Fish.... What YOU got?

About 15 yrs. ago I had a Chocolate Brown 6 cylinder `73 Duster. Nice car that I'm also sorry I sold (cheap too...) that was in great shape.

<sigh...> The day will come when if you see ANY old Mopar it's gonna turn your head. They are getting harder and harder to find in ANY year or condition, especially out here on the Rust coast....

I like 74 best cause I own one, heh Ill take any year you guys dont want though.

There are certain things that you can count on and remain consistent no matter what.

Again for the original poster.

If it's what you like and a good deal regardless of year... BUY IT!

I prefer the 70-71 cars, but also have a 73 340 Dart Sport. I think they all have attributes. The 72+ cars being the dual snorkel scoop which I really like.

I own a 71 dart also very quick 10.60s on the footbrake at 1700 rpm launch lol, I have a 0.60 over 440 in it,eagle rods, srp forged pistons, comp can roller .660 single pattern. duration at .050 is 272 on intake and 280 exhaust, ported head flows 329 on intake at .700 sharp 1.6 rollers ss shafts,M-1 intake with integral valley pan built into intake, 1050 dominator, 2 inch fenderwells with 3.5 collectors, trans has ta 4500 converter, kelvar bands, aluminum drum manual valve body. rear is 8 3/4 with spool and moser axles with 4.30 gear. all msd equipped, $600 dedenbear delay box trans brake, line lock, cheeta sc shifter with line lock button,I dont use the line lock as its not required haha and I dont use the transbrake as I have a standard capacity trans pan and leaving the line with this engine I fear will break my driveline. this thing is a monster .my bet it would go 9.90s with a dana has springs moved inboard adjustable coilover shox . The car is beautiful and easily street legal as it runs aluminum heads and I run a 50 50 mix of 110 and 93 as compression is only 11.5 to 1 with the aluminum heads.wildwood adjustable proportional valve located next to driver, 8 inch cowl hood, when this thing fires it shakes the whole house , rod type snubber that doubles as a pinion angle adjuster. 10k email me at mopar1962@adelphia .net for a few pix dont have many but give you what I have. ok, next car,,,,,,,,,,
