this has got to be the stupidest question ever. i m having a hard time finding a dip stick for a 78 318. i have one i got from a local speed shop, but after putting 5 quarts of oil in it nothing is shown on the stick. whear can i get the right one :silent:

Mopar Dealer for about $15.00 it will be a dip stick and tube. They will have to know if it's a car or a truck as they have different pans.

thanks my problemis that i don know what the engine came out of it ws given to me and i rebuilt it. its going in a 74 duster. the pan is a rear sump. ill try to get the casting numbers off the block and see if that hepls ne determine what it was in

I think all cars are center sump, I dont think a rear sump pan will make your center link too happy. I jsut bought the cheap chrome one from mopar performance. It says fits all LA small block cars 1960 something to 1980 something. It didnt fit worth a **** waaaaaaay to tight I had to take some material off so I could pound it in.

Rear sump pans are trucks, center sump pans are cars, so this will have to be changed before you can use the engine. You will have to change the pickup also, so the pump will have to be removed.
