Hi Folks

What is the consensus? Do you grease the slide groove in the caliper mounting bracket where the pad tips ride? I never do, as I am worried about it attracting crap inhibiting movement. What say Ye?

I get pads with the new slide insert.
Gold or Platinum.
PA uses salt and brine on winter roads.
Eats up metal parts.

X.… No grease

I’ve always used brake lube on the tips of the pads where they slide on the bridge and always had even wear on my pads.
Use a paint brush to apply or an old toothbrush will do.
Even on my vehicles that do see salt/brine I have always used this process and never had a problem.
I also check them yearly.

I've done my brakes since the early 80's and never have had a problem and I lived in salty Minnesota. I think the pins and the rubber seals over them are the most important items.

What does the factory service manual say?

I always use a swipe of brake grease on all metal to metal surfaces

Always use silicone brake lube. Never anti-seize.
