Maybe this distributor curve will help other 1 bbl slant six fans. Mine has split exhaust, .100 shaved block, ported head with dual springs, 9:1 measured compression ratio,, std late slant cam . Carter 1 bbl using ethanol free 93 Oct. Points ignition.
So at 2000 rpm it's fully advanced at 32. Timing is 14 btdc.
The big problem is that I get 11 mpg city.
It idles steady with a consistent stumble every few seconds, seems to stumble, stutter, or miss at take off. Above 30 it accelerates smoothly, and the power opens up nicely at 40. I'm happy with the acceleration .
Question is, looking at this curve, would it explain the poor economy and stumble? Am I leaving some untapped power on the table?
I hope this curve serves as a useful reference for those with a mildly built slant, looking for pep, economy.
