Can someone shed some light on the Demon insignias....I have seen some of them in metal and it seems a lot of them in vinyl or a decal. Is it the fact that the newer one are decals and the originals are metal?

The 1971 Demon Had the Vinyl ones. The 1972 Demon had metal. (except for the tail panel which was vinyl)

Now I am going to pay closer attention, because I can swear that a few of the 72's I have had pictures of (looking for one) had the decals. So maybe...just maybe they got lost :o)

After all most 40 years things are changed or lost or broke or moded or.......

I've seen a few '72's with the fender decals also, but they are not correct. It's a long story, but all 1972 Demons had the metal fender emblems if installed at the factory.

they were changed to the metal symbol in 72 on the fenders to get rid of the "little devil" and just have the word demon on it. this was a compromise to try to save the car from being cancelled.......didn't work

I've never seen metal "Demon" insignia on the tail. If the car did not have the stripe package, the side insignia were metal. If the car did have the tape stripes, the side insignia has also been tape.

Mopar has been known to mix things up just to confuse future collectors. Your experience may not match mine.:snakeman:

The 1971 Demon had the vinyl emblems on front fenders and tail panel. The 1972 Demon had metal emblems on front fenders and vinyl on tail panel.
The '72 did not have the vinyl on the front fenders, just on the tail panel. And the '71 did not have the metal emblems on the front fenders only vinyl. (Neither had the emblem in metal on the tail panel.)
There's a reason for this confusion. The Catholic Church had a problem with "the little devil." So, Chrysler made an emblem change in 1972. Thus the devil is headless in metal on the front fenders of the '72.
