Dodge......Hornet?

So... maybe there will be a Dodge Gremlin in our future, too? :) Let's hope they leave the Pacer to rest in peace.

For some reason, that push to pass button makes me think of this instead of Indycar or F1:

265 HP turbo 4 cyl?

I thought they were going all electric.

They sold about 335,000 in a 4 year production run. Not too bad. They were pretty nice little cars.
I agree. Where I disagree is, those cars offered absolutely nothing that wasn't already on the market. They were cookie cutters just like everything else at the time. They didn't stand out.

Agreed, at a time when all cars looked like a Toyota!

Whats sorta funny these days, are the number of guys hot after the Gremlin. Not that they are high $ cars for sure. Maybe RoadKills version (hemi) makes for the hots, dunno.
Yea the 70-6 Hornet was just a compact, nothing car unless you had one of the SC360 cars. Real ones are rare and a good one will bring some $$$$.
But, I like mine like I like slant Mopars. Something different.

Hudson Hornet is on the short list for the first "muscle" car along with the olds rocket 88 and the Chrysler 300.

AMC model name, Jeep powerplant name, & OMNI hot rod option...........let Me put MY hand in the bag, I wanna tag the next item.....

All three made strong showings in the early days of NASCAR.

The first car I ever saw pull the front wheels in person was one like this, but the rear was higher, & the tires stuck out past the quarters like 3 inches. On the school bus at maybe 12 yrs. old, it turned off Jefferson Ave. & stopped 40 ft. into the on-ramp to I70, then yanked 'em.

IDK, that Hornet bodystyle they show in the link is pretty cool.
IIRC they made an AMX version as well.
hatchback, fold down seats, 304, torque flight.....

Back in the 90's a guy I worked with had one with all of the above plus AC and floor shifter.
Tan with tan interior. They didn't like it much. Thought it was "too old".
I tried to get them to paint it red and put Cragars or slots on it.
Would have totally changed the attitude.
I was daily driving my 73 Duster at the time.

AMC made an SC Hornet that you could get with an AMC 360 and 4 speed.

The Hornets can still be a bargain if you luck up on a V8 model realistically priced. I said "IF"!
The Hornet SC360 I think was 71 only, maybe some in 70 dunno. The AMX version of the Hornet was probably like 76 toward the end of their life span.
Like anything guys will build a clone with a v8 for it.

Interesting. I hope it goes over better than the new Dart did.

The 2023 Dodge Hornet ‘goes like hell’
Dodge says that they are going to do electric vehicle's differently. A electric vehicle is a electric vehicle. I'm thinking that the whole idea will fall apart as who's going to be able to afford them. Ford has split its truck division just in case the electric truck's take a nose dive that way it won't damage the gas truck division, that's smart thinking.

I wonder if the Hudson guys complained when AMC called their new model "Hornet"?

:poke:
