I trying to figure out if the O Ring pictured here belongs on the slant 6 distributor shaft. If it does where can I find areplacement?

That's the distributor seal. It actually fits in a groove in the distributor hole in the block, but they usually stick to the distributor shaft when you pull them out. If it is not put back on install you will have a massive oil leak. Should be able to get a replacement at any parts store. I know they are included in a full gasket set.

Thanks, that does make perfect sense, I'd say the leak bordered on massive even with it there. Joe
 
Your best bet would be to just bring the old one along with your distributer to the parts store and go through their selection until you find one. The parts monkey behind the counter will just get confused without something to look at.
 
Well, 3 auto parts stores and the plumbing section at lowes. The closest I came was NAPA they had an O Ring that was the same size but the thickness was off. Doesnt fit right so I'll be checking some plumbing supply places to see if I can come up with the correct ring. Thanks for the help!

I used to race 1/8 Scale unlimited hydroplanes a couple years ago. The tuned pipe had a Hi Temp O-Ring that was resistent to oils. I'd bet if I could get a handful of those in the right size I'd be set for life.

the full gasket set from fel pro has always had them and some other stuff...??? haha
