Well it took us almost 11 months after having to put our Border Collie down, something was truly missing in our lives. Yesterday we went down to the Collville Washington pet refuge and rescued this lovely girl. Let me say that the people who do this volinteer work to save animals are a very special breed, fantastic people. This dog is about 2 1/2 years old. She was abused as a pup allowed to run unkempt where she finaly was hit by a car and had her hip shattered. Hit and run by the way, another super star in our midst. She had surgery and her hip is almost good as new but still limps on occasion. She is quite timid and a little nervous of new things, noises etc. I think this is a result of her treatment as a pup. Check the pics,I think she looks happy now, she has certainly has stolen my heart! Check out the big pink nose, I love it.They named her Blessing as it was a blessing she survived as she is so gentle she steals everyones heart.

Wow! Look at that big pink nose! What a great looking dog and like everyone said, congratz on the rescue. You've done such a great thing.

Merlin was timid too and still is sometimes around loud noises. It took him about a year to normalize. Don't get frustrated if she does some stupid stuff. Chances are her last owners didn't teach her a thing. She's bound to be the best dog you ever had.

Well done sparky! Two rescues in one day with Memike's new pooch. You guys are the best!!!!!!!!

Go Canucks!!! Ooops,sorry wrong thread,lol...

bark bark..

Congrats Sparky.....She's beautiful and very lucky to have found such a great home!

I know what you mean about "something missing". We had to put our best bud down in June and we're close to pulling the trigger on a new rescue soon. :happy10:

Oh ya, it took us many months before we could talk about another one, but now she is ours and I am very happy to have a new "best friend"

Great news Sparky, gotto love that nose and eye color, she's got that "I just want to be loved" look on her face. Not to steal your thread Sparky but we also got a new dog after loosing Sam last year. Meet Jake, he's a hoot. We did check the animal rescues all over for a Sheltie but ended up having to go to a breeder.

Jake is so cute. I showed my wife his picture when you first posted. She wanted your dog!!!
Today is Blessings first day at home alone, we were not sure how she would do as I said before she is a little nervous for obvious reasons. My wife went home at lunch, walked in the house, down the hallway to the spare bedroom, there was the dog passed out on the bed with her legs uo in the air! lol I think she is adjusting fine and can sense she no longer has anything to worry about, she has a home.

Congrats on the new addition to the family. That is one good looking pup. Our newest addition just moved in a couple of weeks ago. "Dallas" sends his regards. Abbie wants to play with Blessing according to her!
