I’ve seen black
I’ve seen chrome

Any particular reasons why some had one and some had the other?

Most all OEM were chrome, most of the black ones I've seen were after market.

Every 68 I've had came with black buttons for what its worth. I thought it was a 68 thing.

I think it depends on year....or it's a Dart/Charger thing.(Dart black button, Charger chrome) Both styles are available from the aftermarket. My 68 came with black buttons. I'm putting chrome back on.

Are you disagreeing with the fact that every 68 I'VE had came with black buttons or that I THOUGHT it was a 68 thing?

The 69 Dart in the dealer brochure looks like it has black buttons.

They were definitely chrome through 67. Mopar started eliminating random bits of chrome after that, sometimes for "safety" and sometimes to save pennies.

Don't get me going on pre-production pictures use in sales literature.

Often items were not ready and previous year parts were used.

This has always been seen as a 68 thing, I'm not saying that it was an absolute.

Literature often has discrepancies from production.
