Does anyone have a photo of where the factory resting position is for an early A-body door handle and window crank (w/ window up)? Something like this (photo below) would be great. Thank you.

This will be interesting if there is a definitive answer.
Yes, given the numerous factories which pumped out the cars and the many different assembly line workers who placed the handles on and tightened with an Allen key, it sounds like a stretch.

This might be similar to what radio station the cars left the factory with and, if an AM/FM radio was ordered, was it originally set on the AM of FM band?

If the car is going to be judged at a car show for points…consult the assembly manual (and put back stock armrests and door trims and dashboard and and and…).

If you are going to be driving this car and want to do something really easy to make it much safer, put the door handle so it is pointing forward, at or near the 3:00 position. That way it cannot serve as a grab handle when you're about to crash and don't have time to consider whether where your hand is grabbing is where it ought to be grabbing.
