I'm painting my 74 Dart Sport. It has the original VIN tag on the dash. I'm putting 72 Duster doors on it, and I'm ready to prep the jambs.
Should I remove the VIN on the 72 door, as to avoid future confusion?

Remove any VIN not correct to your vehicle. IMO

??? Should not BE a VIN "not correct" for the vehicle.......... In some states defacing or removing a sn / vin is illegal. In fact I believe this is federal

As if a '72 Duster door on a '74 Dart Sport wouldn't confuse someone anyway............
As you know, they have a totally different style and function on the inside anyway, i vote to take it off, but the V.I.N. on the dash is a totally different story.
Leave it alone or you are tampering with the V.I.N. of the car, and that is a federal offense..........

!!DOH!!! I just realized you are talking about on the door, (not the body shell post) the "sticker". Not the metal, permanent VIN. YES yank that thing off there LMAO

I guess it's an obvious answer, I'm just not comfortable removing VIN's. I wouldn't make a good crook.

The dash VIN is untouched. I never said I'd remove that.

I'm not done confusing people. I'm cloning it into a 71 Duster! It won't matter much. It's going to have glass fenders, hood, a bare bones interior, with a 360 727 and a 9" rear. Hardly a resto.

67Dart273, with late model VIN's being on the jamb itself, it's easy to be confused!

Can you get a clear photo of the one on the donor door & post it please? You may be the last one with any record the car existed, so that history could be saved this way.
