This is something that comes up from time to time as the instructions in the service book are a little deceiving/confusing.
This is from the 67 Barracuda Service Bulletin 67-25-6
Not mentioned is that this is done before the fuzzies/cat whiskers are installed.
I also leave the rear channel out till later.
Installation
(1) Position door glass and rear frame in upright position and install lift bracket and slide assemblies (Fig. 13)
Explanation: This part is clear if you look at the illustration.
Now the confusion starts
(2) Invert vent wing and install door glass in inverted position.
Explanation: All this is saying is that you install the door glass from the bottom of the vent frame NOTHING ELSE
(3) Install adjusting stud, rod and retainer in vent wing and lubricate sliding surfaces of door glass bracket. (Fig 12).
Explanation: The assumption is the assembly is still upside down, I'm typically working on a table with the outside down on a shipping blanket. I'd defer the stud until later.
Now the trick/clarification that most overlook or don't understand.
(4) Insert lowest point on the division bar through upper lock face corner to insert between panels and slide forward.
Explanation: What this is saying is to (with the door opened all the way) hold the window and vent assembly UPRIGHT high (parallel to the side of the car) and maneuver the bottom of the vent assembly (the little offset bracket that goes over the stud) through the rear top corner of the door (where the upper door seal goes). Once you have the bracket in the door move forward and move the assembly parallel to the door, keep moving forward till you can lower the front of the vent frame into the door, it is that easy.
(5) Tilt lock face side of assembly upward so vent wing hinge adjusting stud will enter hole in inner reinforcement and rear edge of glass fits squarely in rear channel run (Fig. 14) and install nut and washer.
Explanation: There is a little bit of jiggling to get the assembly to drop in place. The reinforcement they are referring to is at the top of the door where that screw (in 67) or the Allen screw adjustment is.
Before I secure anything or install the rear channel I'll install the stud at the bottom of the vent frame and then the rear channel.
(6) Insert adjusting rod in hole of bracket and install nut and washer.
Explanation: I'm assuming they are referring to the bracket at the bottom of the door as they already had you put the stud in the vent frame bracket.
(7) Insert drive screw in vent wing at rear belt.
Explanation: No clue, by now you have everything in place
(8) Install up-stop and adjust door glass.
I hope this has helped to alleviate the confusion and make this a simple task as it should be.
