Doug's exhaust help '66 Dart

Hi everyone. I'm pretty new to the site, but I have been doing some research for headers for my 1966 dodge dart 270, and think that the Doug's D450's will work best for me.
First, the kind of motor I built was out of the Engine Master magazine.
It is a 318 with 360 heads with the keith black pistons, etc. (the engine master's guys got 402 hp from this combo)
The only problem now is that unfortunately since I couldn't afford the Doug's headers at the time, I'm running the stock 273 exhaust manifolds.
So I was wondering how much of an increase in horsepower I could come to expect by using the Doug's headers? and when installing them, does anyone know if I will have to take apart my steering linkage or torsion bars, or is it possible to put them in without removing a bunch of stuff?

my car was originally a column shift, but i've installed a floor shifter. will I still be able to install the headers or is there something with the column shift I cant remove in order to fit them?

You might have to cut the shifter arm off your column at the firewall for clearance?You,ve probably removed the un needed shifter linkages?You could also post a wanted thread,asking for some of the Dougs hedders.Lots of guys hurtin for money,it,s worth a try to save some $$$$$$$$.:read2:
 
have you looked into the tti? they are a little larger tube then the dougs. and cheaper it looks also..

don't know how much of a gain you'll see but i do know the 273 manifolds are choking the hell out of it now.

If you have some time, I am going to pull the doug's off mine and sell them because I bought tti's for the 408 engine. It might be a couple of months before I have them out, I had surgery in Feb and the doc says no lifting until mid april. They are in good shape and I will ship. They are the D450's.
 
I looked into the tti's but there website said that I would have to notch by transmission cross member, and buy some special mini starter that cost a couple hundred bucks. That's the main reason i decided to go with the Doug's.
66dartman, as of now im still saving up for the doug's but should have the cash all together by the middle of april. How much are you wanting for em?
 
Either Dougs or TTI's need the crossmember notched to run dual exhaust. Also if you have a 904 the factory mini-starter from a later model dakota, ram series fits with the TTI's. I have a set on my '64.
 
fyi i bought a remanufactured crossmemeber with the notch cut out and the member strengthened. was some years ago from laysons, no probs.
