I can't decide which headers to get for my 360. Are the tti's worth the $200 extra? Which one's will give the most power??

If you making 500 or less, Doug's headers will be fine. If you're making500+ or plan on upgrading the motor for more power then the TTi step headers will be just fine. My 340 makes 400-425 horse and I'm using Doug's headers.

i never used dougs but the tti fit real nice....... my 416 is 512hp 516 tq

TTI for power and better fitting or Doug for better fitting

3-7hp is the usual difference at peak. It's nothing to even notice. The step header advantage is so very slight. If the engine is in the 400-425 or less range it won't matter.

If you are spending the money anyways, buy dougs and a better converter...

what abody joe said dynamics or ultimate seem to work the best i run them both

x2...the power difference is soo very slight it doesnt make no difference...changing from dougs to tti, to try to gain that 5 hp, is kinda like farting in the wind....LOL

I’m not where to start but, I can tell you that this experience with TTi Headers is going to be the straw that broke the camel’s back. I started out my Saturday all pumped up and my goal was to install the TTi headers in my 69 Valiant 360 stroker. Before selecting headers I asked a million questions and read everything I could about headers for my application. Cost being a big factor. Long and short TTi came out at the top and way more than I budgeted for. But, my thought was to spend the extra and get a quality product and “FITS” with little or no modifications. I called TTi and spoke with Sam there and told him what I was doing. He was very helpful and I felt good enough to place & pay for my $1,000.00 headers.

They arrived and they looked beautiful. I wrapped then in packing foam sheets so not to damage or scratch them and installed them on my engine/transmission mock up. Followed the instructions as best I could and things did not add up. I called Mike in Sales at TTi and explained what I had found. I decided to wait until I had the whole set up in the car before I got too excited. That day was Saturday & I’m sick to my stomach. If I did not live in a residential area I would of pushed the car outside and set fire to it. Not just because of the TTi’s but throughout this entire project every major or big tick item has been a cluster f*ck. Companies will say anything to sell and I’m all sold out. Big Name companies like Art Morison, B&M, TCI, TTi, Schumacher, Performance Products, Powerdyne just to name a few snake oil salesman. And we have no way to be safe other than forums like this and internet meada. I want you guys to see where this goes and it TTi is really interested in keeping customers and backing up their claims. I am one tenacious bastard and if I have to park my *** on TTi’s front step I will. I’m tired of getting screwed over.

Good morning Gentlemen,

First Mike, I did not hear back from Sam about my technical questions, after a week. Today I learned that we are a critical mass and I’m not a happy camper. As I stated to you previously. I have followed the TTI instruction to the letter as per TTI340A-178ER / TTI340A17835 for the installation of your headers in my 1969 Valiant. I spoke with Sam on the phone prior to placing my order and explained all the particulars of my installation. I was left with the impression TTI knew what I needed.

As I mentioned things were not adding up on my engine/transmission stand for the mock up but, I wanted to make sure I was not missing something. So I decided to wait until the engine & K member were installed in the car and met the requirements of TTI instructions. The pictures attached are per TTI instructions + 0.010”. I expected some custom modification but nothing like what you can see. I am very disappointed and discouraged.

I researched headers, chatted with other members on A-Body’s Only forum and came to the conclusion TTI was the way to go. Considering the cost I realize you pay for what you get. Like insurance. I have to say I am very disappointed so far. At this point I think I should of bought a set of economically priced (cheap) headers from JEGS and modified them with less aggravation and wasted money then dealing with TTI.

So, I would expect that you and Sam look at the pictures and if you have any questions please call me at 604-210-0904. Better still e-mail. I am expecting TTI to make this right. I will be happy to help TTI with any data to help future customers with an application like mine. I will work with you. However, I am not accepting the set of headers/customer service you supplied so far. Under any circumstances. I will expect a reply or contact from TTI today with a reasonable solution to this problem.

I have these and I didn't have to put a mark in them to install. I would have returned them before murdering them though.

i wonder if TTI has some kind of problem going on with a jigg,i have the same problem at the steering box on my 1 7/8" primarys and i bought these headers since i knew how good the stepheaders fitted from my own experience:S
and i thought this was partialy since my car has been in a crash earlier in its life.

I'm starting to think that with as much damage as you've had to do to those TTI headers, it's some other MAJOR issue. I'm sorry, but it looks like they sent you wrong ones, you've got the wrong motor mounts, something big.

If I was TTI I'd gladly ship you a new set just to get those pics off the net.

I've used Dougs, and could not be happier. They're tight in a couple spots but the hardware, gaskets, hell even the damn stickers were top notch. I did have a bit of trouble getting the bolts into the head but they did eventually go.

I ended up ordering Doug's and after seeing those pics I am glad I did!! That sucks bro

there is something seriously wrong with that set up. weather the motor is in the wrong spot or the headers are not for his application. my tti headers went in without having to even slightly ding them.

They may very well have sent you the B/E headers and not A body parts. We tried to put a set of B/E headers on an A body and I recall the issues being very close to what you have.

The A body headers have a tube that is flattened out on drivers side to clear the torsion bar, IIRC. Right where the one you have is beat to death. The B/E headers didn't have that flat spot from what I remember.

I called TTi last week to ask some questions and order my headers. The lady who answered said she would have someone call me back very shortly. That was early last week. I have not heard from them yet. I have lost quite a bit of faith in this company already.

I don't understand how somebody could spend nearbout a grand for headers and then beat the everlivin **** outta them. That's just stupid.

Stupid….maybe but, I have nothing to lose. A G note and my anger management certificate. I think you missed the point bud. When I call the manufacture and answer all their questions regarding my application and them some and when I receive the product and inspect it for any damage I should “feel” 100% confident that the product is correct and made to fit my application as per the manufactures claims. Just like I do every day ordering and installing helicopter parts that cost $10,000 of dollars. I do not think that is too much to ask. Do you?

As far as I’m concerned the items sent to me are nothing more that pretty looking scrap metal. If by chance TTi sent me E or B body headers. That’s not my problem. It’s TTi’s quality control problem. How am I to know? I’m not exhaust header expert but, I do know a bogus aircraft parts when I see one and I do know how to read and understand instructions. I have 42 experimental aircraft builds under my belt and wanted to do a car for a change. This is my 4th & the other three were Mopar #’s cars. I’ve been around lets say.

Either way I felt getting to the root cause was needed here. I wanted to see how much out these headers are from fitting my application as “ordered” and “promised”. If I had to do a bit of bashing to get “advertised clearance” I could live with that although not happy. Well as you can see it has gone way beyond a bit of bashing to full out mutilation. So either way TTi headers today in my books are liars, fraudulent and crooks and I’m going to make sure everyone I can through every media know is. So guys like you might be spared the disappointment & sleep lost in situations like this. Like I have. If you look at threads above TTi has lost a sale to Doug’s already and that’s what looking out for each other means. I only stated the facts in my case. No emotion. So you be the judge.

That sucks you had so many problems. My set up is darn near like yours. Except I have a 74 duster with a 69 Dart Suspension and schumacher motor mounts. I too have power steering but a 4-Speed and everything slid in without and issue.

I know there was another thread on here where somebody was having issues with their headers and it was due to I believe wrong motor mounts. Sorry I don't recall exactly but the point is maybe retrace your steps and make sure all of that stuff is up to snuff!

As mentioned above I wonder if the headers you received were mislabled.

Good nez from Sam Davis at TTi today. I had no idea who Sam is. Do you?

"Hi Brad,

I would like you to return the headers to TTI. I will check them on our tooling to see if they were manufactured incorrectly. If they were defective we will send you a new set at no charge. If we find that they are not defective we will refund your money. Please package and return them on our UPS account # xxxxxxxx and state that they are defective and have no value.

I am as you are very disappointed and discouraged and sorry that these fitment issues have come up.

Sincerely,

Sam Davis

I can not ask for anything more than that from TTi. I will be shipping them out in the morning and will keep you posted. If I screwed up I'll eat crow big time. If TTi screwed up they are being very reasonable so far.

Crow is best BBQ......

At least you have good news now !! Just can't imagine beating the chitt out of them when you saw they didn't fit !!
