I'm going to replace the rear main seal and I wanted to know if its necessary to drain the coolant?

Also, while I'm in there...should I replace anything like the oil pump or the screen? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!
Rob

if your just pulling the pan should be no coolent leak. at least look in the oil punp screen to be shure its clean

If you have to jack up the engine up to get the pan off you might want to drain coolant remove the lower radiator hose. I didn't and it caused the lower radiator nipple to crack and leak requiring a trip to the radiator shop.
