drive shaft help ? wat do i need ?

got a 76 duste have a 383 and 727 for it need a rear and wat drive shaft am i use my slant 6 one ? that would fit the 8 an 3/4 rear ? thanks angelo

Driveshafts are transmission and rear axle specific.

IIRC the shaft needs to be about 45" long for that combo.

With every custom built car you really need to measure for the driveshaft with all components installed and the weight of the car on the suspension. Put the yoke all the way in the transmission and measure center-to-center onthe u-joints. Then subtract 3/4" and you'll have the length you need.

you should be able to use your orig drive shaft, but it will need to be shortend. and you can buy conversion u-joints that will work with your diff.

you may need a different yoke for your drive shaft too if the spline count is different
