Can anyone tell me the length of the drive shaft minus yoke and u-joint for a 66 Dart with an 8 3/4 and a 4 speed?

According to my 69 FSM the driveshaft for a V8 with 4 speed and 8 & 3/4 is 51.53 inches measured from the "centerline of front bearing bore to centerline of rear bearing bores" (I'd say the definition of "bearing bore" is where the u-joints are installed). Since the 69 Dart has the same wheelbase as a 66 Dart, I'd venture a guess and say that's the measurement you need.

Thanks, That will be a start. I get many opinions on how to do it.

I'll just go and measure mine tomorrow, if you can hold on untill then. Too dark in the barn right now... Mine is 273/A833/8.75

Wouldn't you figure it, it isn't a simple answer. Sorry. The stock driveshaft is 51 1/2 inches. I'm not certain that that is an original '66 driveshaft however. I may have accidently sold it Thnking it was my old Swinger shaft...... That shaft is small U-joint (741 case), 273/A833/8.75. BUT, it may have been from a '69 (742 case small yoke) 340/A833/8.75.
The driveshaft I am currently using is 53 1/8. That is large U-joint, stroker 340/A833/8.75. Here is the kicker. The car is sitting on old Superstock B-body springs. If that spring has added a touch to the wheelbase, then that last shaft may not help you, and it may be too cramped.

The shaft I have is a 340/383 A body 727 with 8.75. I actually got it out of a 383 Dart that was pretty much rusted away. I'll have to look for one at SpringFling
