I'm going to be tackling the dash renovation soon. When I drop the steering wheel, what do I need to be mindful of. I read in the service manual or forum (can't recall) about not forcing it as it will mess with the shifter linkage, etc.. Any tips? I'm a newbie.

Thanks :burnout:

If you want to remove it completely, drive the pin out of the steering coupler. I use "selected" open end wrenches to pry between the coupler and box.

What year????

In 67 there are the two nuts and studs under the dash, and a third bolt further down.

If it's a column shift you'll have to deal with linkage.

And the two electrical connectors
