Finall got the exhaust installed today.I should have taken some pics hen it was in the air,but didnt think of it.

The system is 340 manifold's on a 318 with 2.5" dual mandrel bent exhaust.
Mufflers are original 40 series mufflers with H pipe.

The car has a nice rumble, with that Flowmaster sound.Because of the manifolds it is very driveable, nothing to harsh.

This car is really coming around, and getting really fun to drive :thumbrig:

There was a winged honda car that was acting like he wanted some,so I stomped on it,and all he saw was tail lights.

Getting the exhaust done is probably one of my favorite parts of a build. Congrats. I like the turn downs too.

i like it also. sooo how much of a difference is it now with the duels and 340 manifolds?

The car runs like a bat out of hell.Awesome,Awesome upgrade.
Between the 340 manifolds,2.5" dual exhaust,Flowmasters,H-pipe,just a super neat set-up.Sound is a nice rumble nothing over the top.I know a 340/360 would be quicker, but dam this little 318 car is quick.
The car has already made a believer out of a couple unsespecting participants. :burnout:

Thanks all for the nice comments.

John

LOL,thats funny you say that, because one of them was of the "rice" variety, and the other a fancy "German" sports sedan :burnout: .

Is that one of the summit/jegs exhaust kits?

You have any pictures underneath the car?

Johnny Dart:
It sounds like a great combo. I'm building a very similar car right now, except it's a 4 door 70 dart sleeper. What do you have for a cam, intake, carb, ignition, and gears? Mine's still stock with 57,000 miles on the car, stock 318 auto, and it runs perfectly. I assumed that you are running the stock 318 long block. I'll probably go with headers, though. I'm converting to bbp. discs and a 8 3/4 now and want to finish the car in about a month. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes,it is the a-body kit from Summit. The system is actually made by a company called Hearthrob exhaust. You can go to there site and check out the system.I believe a few others on the site have used the same kit.

I also bought the H-pipe kit from Summit, cant remember off the top of my head where I bought the turndowns.

No pics underneath the car,but if you go to www.heartthrobexhaust.com click on header dual kits.this is the kit summit and jegs sells.

they have under car shots.

Basically it is a stock (60,000 mile) 318 motor/cam,Mopar Performance electronic ignition (advanced curve) Edelbrock performer intake,Edelbrock 600cfm carb,stock gears (273?) 8 3/4.

Car would be even quicker with a set of TTi's.
Although I am very happy with the performance of the HiPo 340 manifolds.

I like everything else you are doing with the car,add some KYB's in the mix.

Send us a pic of that 4 door.!!!!

Nice job Johnny I will do the same to mine one day.
If I ever get one. I had a 73 challenger I took some cheep headman headers of and put the same manifolds on and They never was a problem and help the 318 get better gas mileage. Looking good man.

Thanks Mike !!!!!
It always cracks me up when people talk about better mileage when we add a 4 bbl, headers etc.I havent found this yet, because I cant keep my dam foot out of this thing. :burnout:

Thanks for the info, Johnny Dart. Pics will be coming as soon as my camera is fixed, as well as some of my other projects. I'm thinking about converting it to a 4 speed too. :sleepy2:
