I just ordered a dual snorkel scoop for my 74 Sport.

I want to cut out the triangular area and get a filter up through and into the scoop area. Has anyone got any pictures of what they are running. I will probably need to run a taller, smaller diameter air cleaner to accomplish this, maybe with a velocity stack.

Just curious what others have done.

If I remember correctly Lance had a similar set up in his Duster.

Oh Lance, where art thou?

When I did mine I went with the 2 holes like factory. I think it looks better then the triangle cut out. I didn't need the hood space so I can see why you might have to if you had a really tall intake or spacer. Theres a thread on here what gives you all the measurements for the factory holes. I bought the rubber grommets from National Moparts since they are fairly local to me.

Yeah, I found that thread today and bookmarked it.

My goal is to isolate the carb air intake from the engine bay to get a denser charge. I have thought about the plate, foam etc to seal it off, but haven't really stepped into it too far yet.

I cut them with a hole saw on a drill. I can't remember the exact size off the top of my head, around 4". I bought the rubber grommets first and measured them. If you go slow and have a new sharp hole saw, it does a good job. You can clean up the cut with a file and the grommets hide the rest. Remember to touch up the raw edge with some paint.

I got my scoop from these guys. Its very solid and as close to the OEM that I could fine. comes with the mounting hardware.

Thanks

I love the 1 of 0 cake pan idea. Saw that a while ago.

I may have another one of these up for grabs, once its restored here in a few weeks.

I sold the last one that I had restored to Bryan/ Downtime.

I may make an air cleaner that goes with it. Not sure.

Wow, that looks great!! Nice job!! Takes a lot of nerve to cut up a good hood, yes??

LOL, yup, I was wincing each time the drill bit popped through and especially when I cut the hole for air. :sad2:

Can you show a pick from the underside? I'd like to see the opening you cut.

I didn't take a pic of that, yet, I will at some point when I finish the intake part on the carb.

Basically I cut the entire area out where the two holes are in yours. I was going to take the whole triangle area but decided against it.

I'm going to design some kind of pan similar to yours and make a foam seal to seal against the hood when closed.
