Anyone have any info about this thing? I cant seem to find anything on it anywhere on the internet. It came in the trunk of my 73 duster. The way it sits right now its broken beyond use. I think it looks cool and wouldnt mind another if they are something that can be tracked down. Thought about repairing it but it seems to be some sort of plastic not fiberglass.

It looks like the one that Direct Connection used to sell.

DC. There was one for sale on here not too long ago, might want to do a search in the For Sale thread.

Those spoilers came on the 76 plymouth roadrunners, and if you look at a 79 roadrunner ,they had attachments that went down the side of the rear quarter panel, also they would fir Aspen and Volare

Ok so its a direct connection piece. Thank you everyone. Ill have to keep my eyes peeled for one in the great white north of canada. This is the first ive ever seen.

DC part, usually $350-$600 sadly

They look different. All of them had extensions and the 79 looks more concave int he back. JC Whitney?

It's a Direct Connection spoiler made specifically for Dusters/Demons/Dart Sports. It is NOT a Camaro piece, and it is NOT for an Aspen or Volare. And while we're at it, I'll get ahead of the next one and say it's not for an AMC Javelin either. I know, I have looked into ALL of those spoilers and what it would take to fit them to a Duster. And a '71 Satellite, just in case anyone is curious. None of them are even that close, and they'd all take a ton of work to mount up.

There are several reproductions of the Direct Connection spoiler. If the spoiler is made from ABS plastic then it is in fact an original DC spoiler, and as noted already they go for stupid money even in not great condition. I would not say that spoiler is beyond use, I see that the pockets for mounting it are broken but that can be overcome if someone wants to spend some time on it.

I actually prefer the fiberglass reproductions, they're easier to deal with than the ABS although they're heavier, which can mess with the trunk springs. MAS made the best one as far as accuracy goes, but they've also been out of business for awhile now.

Thanks for the info. It is plastic probably abs feels kinda like black plastic poop pipe lol. Thats interesting to know maybe i can mess around with it get it good enough to stay in place obviously its not a show car.

The F-body spoilers were all 3 piece.

The DC part is one piece.

I ordered mine when they were still available, a l o n g time ago.

I stand corrected, it is a direct connection for a 70-76 duster, demon, if you will look at aftermarket spoilers on ebay they show a lime green duster saying direct bolt on, i saw a photo one on a bodies a few months ago, someone put one on and had filled the bolts with filler and primed it

Yeah it's a PVC based plastic. You definitely don't need all the holes to be intact, you could probably hold it on pretty well with just a few fasteners on each side. Originally they were supposed to be held on by little plastic push rivets. What happened was a lot of people installed them with sheet metal screws or similar. The back of the fastener pockets don't actually touch the trunk skin, they end up higher so theres a gap. So when you put screws in it puts pressure on the PVC and causes cracks. So a lot of the originals have the little fastener pockets broken out of them.

Yes Showcars out of Canada is still reproducing them. There have been people in the past that had problems with them, but since they've been on eBay they seem to have gotten their act as a business together. I have one of those spoilers. It's a pretty good reproduction of the original. But the Showcars mold is a little off, the spoiler ends up being a little shorter than the originals were. It's not much, maybe a little more than 1/8" per side. It's really just how the lip tapers out on the edge, that particular reproduction cuts the lip off a little flat so the whole thing ends up a little shorter. You end up seeing a little more trunk lid at either end of the spoiler. It's hard to tell, I have an original to compare it to though and you can see the difference when they're side by side.

The one without the screw pockets might be a different reproduction, there was a guy on eBay under CNS something that was making them without the pockets. Those are terrible for quality though. I have one of those too, and it would take a TON of work to make it look good.

Just fill the broken holes with JB Weld or marine epoxy, sand them down and redrill them. Based on what 72bluNblu says, you might want to fill all of them on the bottom so the area around the hole sits flush, to avoid future problems.

Yeah i was thinking some sort of epoxy then bondo and rattlecan Previous owner pop riveted it for sure because there was still a rivet in one of the wholes on the decklid.

MAS spoilers were very thin fiberglass with no mounting provisions. A buddy bought one for his 'cuda.
He ended up glassing in some bolts to pass thru holes in the deck-lid. After all the work it looked great!
Now in their defense, they were very reasonably priced!

Nope. The MAS rear duck tail spoiler pieces were almost identical to the DC version, except fiberglass. They had the same pockets for using mounting hardware around the exterior. I have one, it’s fairly thin fiberglass but of all the reproductions it’s by far the most accurate. I prefer the MAS version to the original, easier to work with and more rigid than the ABS version from DC.

Sorry, I just remembered his was their AAR spoiler, completely hollow.

No worries! I have an MAS front spoiler for one of my cars too, I can't even remember which one at this point. It's super thin and has nothing you could use to mount it with that wouldn't involve more work, it would be a pain. So normally I agree with disparaging remarks about MAS parts, they're pretty flimsy.

But, in the case of their DC replica ductail spoiler, they hit it right on. In my opinion anyway, it's the best out of all the DC replica's and arguably better than the original.

There was a factory 1 piece spoiler available for the F bodies. 78 Duster maybe...
Most F body spoilers were the three piece design tho.
Less weight on the trunk springs.
Either way its very different design from an A body piece and doesnt fit at all.
I tried, not even close.
