Dumb newbie question

I have a Dart Swinger with what is going to be a mildly built 318 for cruising pretty much. Do I need to worry about the 7 1/4" rear end right away or just wait to change it if I kill it? Thanks!

I would change it out before any mods to the motor. If it breaks it could lock up & destroy the tranny.

I agree an 8 ¼ upgrade should be fine and if you don’t already have disk brakes, now’s the time to upgrade brakes too. I have been noticing the older A Body cars are drying up, used to be able to go to the junk yard and find lots of donor parts, now not so much.
