Does any one know where I can find a Ducktail spoiler for a 72 Plymouth duster Similar to the one in the picture? Any leads would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

I have. They're decent fiberglass copies of the Direct Connection pieces (the originals are ABS). They have the indents for the screws etc. The fiberglass will need a little finish work for paint, but that's pretty standard. I think the biggest difference is that they're a little narrower, like maybe a 1/4" overall? So a smidge more trunk lid shows on the outside edges compared to the DC version. It would be pretty easy to fix. Probably just a result of how they finished the edges of the mold. It's a small detail, I didn't notice until I set one next to a DC spoiler.

They are for the later trunks with the ridge.

They're WAY better quality than the other ones that pop up on eBay that don't have the dimples for the screws. I have one of those too, it would be a lot of work to make one of those look good, the fiberglass is pretty rough and they don't mount the same.

how'd it look out of box?
I've had that on my watch list but it just looked too wavy on the bottom edges.

It’s great these are being reproduced. I found mine in the 1980s, but was a teenager then. “How important are the screws?” I believe ones I took out were pointed tip Allen heads. But I left them with the shell I got the spoiler from. How are you all mounting your spoilers? Any pictures of how you have been mounting them?
Is there a mounting kit available?

There are no mounting kits available. And the original Direct Connection spoilers were not supposed to be mounted with screws, they came with plastic push rivets. When screws are used they can put too much pressure on the spoiler, which is why you see most of the used originals have cracks in the screw pockets.

Original instructions and push rivets...

Not sure where mine came from. Its a repop one and its not real great but, its ok for now. I used stainless sheet metal screws to attach it to the trunk lid and, do not believe the original style plastic rivets would even fit in the pockets on the spoiler to hold it on.

I’m thinking about mounting my ducktail spoiler using sealed jack nuts and stainless hardware. Has anyone done this?

I bought one of the showcars spoilers on eBay. I had no problem at all with that transaction, even with shipping it from Canada to the US. It took a little longer to arrive, but that’s a Canada Post to USPS thing. I’m not saying Showcars is some great company, I don’t know the guy and I wouldn’t take that as some ringing endorsement. Just that I didn’t have any issues with buying from him through eBay.

The spoiler itself is one of the better ones available. The fiberglass work on mine was good. Like any fiberglass part it would take a little work before paint, but yeah, that’s every fiberglass part I’ve ever seen.

The only thing with the Showcars rear spoiler is that it’s about a 1/4” shorter overall (lengthwise) than the original DC spoiler, I think he cut the ends of his mold off a smidge too early. So the piece has a vertical edge on the last part of the shoulder instead of a constant taper down the the edge. It’s really minor though, you’d have to know exactly what the original looked like. Or set an original next to it, like I did.

I'm glad at least one person didn't get ripped off by "showcars" or "showcars by rob" as he's known on Ebay. I guess there's less to mess up w/ a spoiler. I personally think he's a real scam artist. And now, he has stepped up his scam game by paying Ebay to erase all of his new Neg Feedback. He lists all of his stuff as "last one" But as soon as it sells - BING! like a miracle, he lists another "last one" And of course, he won't say the truth about how his stuff is warped/twisted and cracked/broken. I had all of those problems. Or how he can't read a tape measure. He sent me a $350 hood scoop that measured 2-1/2 inch opening on one side and 3 inches on the other side. A sag in the opening in the middle from left to right and another huge 1/2 inch dip/sag from front to back, right in the center of the scoop. Tried to tell me that it must've happened in shipping, but to "go ahead and use it because once it's bolted on - no one will notice". He said to "cut a bolt to length and use it to prop it up in the center where it was sagging a little. No biggie, that's what all of the racers do". I can't prop the center up w/a bolt if the center of the hood has been cut out for the carb and air filter. Then he offered to refund me $30 to cover the cost of repair materials. I don't mind cutting and fitting it to my hood/ or doing the finish work before paint. But that scoop was trash. I complained to ebay. He finally agreed to accept a return, but I have to pay the shipping. So, I showed pics of how bad it was to ebay. They said he must pay for the shipping too. He agreed and sent a shipping label. But he reversed the shipping charges as soon as he got it back. So, I left a Neg feedback and filed a compliant w/ ebay citing my next step was to file internet fraud charges through my credit card co. And that I had all pics and evidence to proceed. Ebay finally refunded the rest of my money. I guarantee - he wouldn't do that crap to people in person/ in their faces. I actually re-boxed it much better than how he sent it to me in the first place. I think you're better off teaching yourself how to do fiber-glass work on you tube. It'll definitely be cheaper and probably look a thousand times better too. LOL. I mean, you're gonna have to buy all of the fiber-glass materials to repair his cheesy stuff anyway.
