...and has hit the strip too...

As you might remember we've bought teh Duster 'Hotwheels' had for sale last year. After arriving last september we started working on it right away. You have seen some updates in the meanwhile but now it's finally ready I have some pictures to share. Only thing I still have to do right now is getting some mirrors (anyone?) and put them on. We finished the car about 3 weeks ago, one week before the first dragrace ever with my wife behind the wheel...

She never ran the car before except for practicing the burnout as the car was only ready one week before the race. Even better, she even haven't ever driven a car like that so we've thrown her into racing deep as we say. But she performed well I have to admit. Burnouts were good, staging went well, reaction was good and after getting used to the (for a starter) G's and the speed with a new car she put down 13.1's leaving in Drive at idle. So not bad for the little 340. Assume getting 12's next time when she will try shifting. These are the bests she managed with it; R/T 0.02 - 60ft 1.814 - 1/4m 13.123@105mph.

Here are some pics...

some practicing...

awesome congrads man, thats cool your wife runs the car  i had to open the other pic and man that was alot of take offs and burning out. good luck with 12's

very nice car and congtats to your wifes racing ,what mods to the motor and rearend for traction?

To the engine we made only mods to lose traction

Rearend:
- 8.3/4 stock width axle housing
- 742 casing cone type SG unit
- Yukon axles (as for big bolt pattern)
- Caltrac monoleaf springs
- Relocated the springs into the framerails
- Minitubbed the car, although we don't have the correct rims for it yet.

Still have to add caltrac bars sometime, but for now first the snubber has to do the job. 26x11.5" MH DOT slicks on 8x15" rims.

Engine:
- 340 +.030
- stock forged crank .030
- stock rods with new bushings
- stock forged pistons
- file fit moly rings
- ported x-heads
- adj. rolle rockers
- solid comp cam
- weiand single plane intake
- 750 Mighty Demon

So nothing really exotic if you ask me. Still have to some tuning as the carb is at a 'it runs so keep your hands off' mode.

By the way, sorry for the repost. I just saw my buddy already posted some pics in the past.

GREAT job Hans!! Glad to see it getting beat on like it was built for!! Looks like your little lady is pretty happy with it. Congrats on getting it finished.

Mirrors, huh? There were some mirrors with the car, no? I'm pretty sure a few chrome sport mirrors were with the car when I sent it. There were so many boxes of parts. I've misplaced a complete set of seat belts that came out of my Demon...no telling where they wound up. LOL!!

Amazing transformation...for those who haven't seen it before, this is what it looked like LAST summer --
