I know the covers are different on 1972 1973 duster seats, but are they the same seat?

No, the 72's are hard backed - - 73's are soft backed

The seat release mechanism is different too....

Any Idea where to even start looking for a set of 1972 seats?

My neighbor has a set in the 70 Duster I sold him. He is thinking of putting the 340 drive line in his cuda. If he does I will end up with the rest of the car for the A/C for for my car. I will ask him when I see him. Heres the only interior pics I have. As I remember I think they are in decent shape. The car is rotted beyond repair.

regarding the frame 70-71 same, 72 is on its own

I heard that too but I've also heard it said that 70 through 72 frames were all the same

Anyone have evidence of either opinion?

Has anyone ever matched the plastic seat back screw locations from 70/71 to 72?
From what I understand 70 plastic backs are shorter and a bit wider? correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a set of 72 buckets but what I really want is a pair of 70's for my 70 Duster, so I either need to trade my 72's for 70's OR if the "70-72 frames are the same" opinion is true then I can just recover with new 70 foam, covers and backs from Legendary

Lets hear the evidence for either.........Sale at Legendary ends 1/11/16 Tic Tock :clock:

1970 & early 71 - same. Long release button I hinge covers separate from back & these

Late 1971 into 1972 - Same. Short button & hinge clovers on piece with back.

At some point in early 72 that style was phased out & the foams are not interchangeable due to the springs being part of the newer foam all in one piece.

My bucket seats came out of a 71 340 duster I owned in the 80's I didn't realize then that it had a 72 interior in it, It wasn't till I pulled it's interior out of storage years after I had to scrap the car and saw October 10, 1971 ink stamps from the Lyons trim plant(Lyons Michigan)on the back of all the interior door panels by then the title and tags were long gone but it had a 71 tail panel and a rallye dash

Anyone have some good rear and side shots of 70 buckets?

Pic of my 72's
