Dye seats black?

I have found a decent set of bucket seats for my car and I'd like to dye them black. I've dyed some of the other vinyl interior parts before but not seats.
Has any done this successfully?
What does it take to dye them black?

Aresol dye wont cover nips around welp beads and will wear off pretty quick. The dye for vynil tops that is sponge applicated (if they still make it) might do the job. I haven't used it on seats. It did do a nice job on few vynil tops years ago.
