a while back I saw a thread on muffler flow rates and decible levels and think i found the same one when I was searching but what I couldnt find was the difference in the welded and X offerings from Dynomax.

My set up is a headders off a 360, planning to run an X pipe (you want it as close to the headders as possible right?) and bring the exhaust out the rear. I figure a 2.5" size will do me fine. I like quiet and efficiency so from the graphs and reviews Ive seen, Dynomax is the ticket for me.

So who can tell me the difference before I order? Thanks!

i went dynomax super turbo. love them. 3" pipe x-pipe and mufflers.

magna-flow x-pipe. and the big 3" mufflers.

Well.... I was told I needed to make a solo sound pass. I also got dinged for no helmet so I went home. I think you will be happy with the Super Turbos, they have a nice sound.

Funny thing.... It was the first time running the E70-14s at the track. I made several passes in the 14s with a high of a 14.7, then ripped off a 13.2 once I started to figured out how to launch.

any input as to an offset or center inlet/output? I would think a good exhaust guy could work around whatever i give him but is anyone running into space restrictions against a subframe connector or anywhere else?

X pipe around the tail of the tranny area is a good spot and easy to do rather than exact sci. measurements and testing for best possible spot.

A good exhaust man will hook up your mufflers no matter what you give him.

You want the center of the "X" 8-12 inches behind the end of the tailshaft. Mine is centered exactly 10" back. To close to the mufflers and it will cause a decrease in flow due to loss of momentum of the air/gases

Oh and i have the ultraflow welded 2 1/2". Quieter idle than my flowmasters (i had super 40's) but louder when in the trottle. Welded is considered a race muffler though.

Picked up 18" case GOERLICH Xcelerators. Nice quality, much heavier construction than Magnaflows. I have Dynomax now, and can't stand them...

They idle quiet, and cruise quiet above 2800 rpm. Light throttle super anoying drone.

yo pete, what dynomax do you have?

i know my super turbos don't drone at all at any rpm. atleast i don't notice any.

I have the same 17793s. Looking for something deeper and rumbly without being overpowering. Also going down to 2.5, which is plenty for my 475hp motor.

hmmm. weird. even with my built 360 that was in the car i didn't have any problems with a drone. you have an H or X pipe on that car?

Just to confuse things further...

I'm running these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PYE-MVR10/ behind the 318 in my Dart. I simplified the mess by ordering the whole system w/ X-pipe. The fit is about as good as can be expected from any system-in-a-box and it sounds good. There's no drone or weird resonance under any driving conditions that I've encountered. The system price has gone up a bit from when I bought it, but it's still an excellent value.
