Has anyone used the cylinder heads built by "Mrperformance"
on e bay?
The price for the 440 cylinder heads he builds seems compelling, but not sure about the quality and reliability.
He claims he uses only American made parts, but it's likely the castings are made in China where everyone else gets theirs

Thanks for your opinions

Here's the links to the e bay listing and to his site for his business.

I actually phoned him, and he said the castings are from Procomp, and his stainless valves are made in Argentina. He says the only reason he uses Argentina valves is that there are no stainless valves made in USA, but claims they are good quality.
As for the castings, which is the most important issue, I heard that they "come from" Australia. But who knows whether they are made there? Are they merely being "flipped" through an Australian warehouse? I e mailed Procomp on where these castings are actually made, but no response yet.
As I mentioned before, if these guys are ligit and honest, these heads are a pretty good deal, but reliability is my main hangup. Casting cracks from cheap Chinese stuff is what my concerns are.
These heads by the way are nice raised port head design with the added benefit of extended intake runners to allow standard intake manifolds. I notice that the claimed flow numbers are lower than Indy 440-1 heads. My guess is that these intake runner extensions have something to do with it.
Mrperformanceparts claims to have at least a thousand heads out there with no problems. I asked them for some references to contact with users of their heads, but all they will do is refer me to a youtube video of a racecar which they claim to have their heads on it. This seems suspicious to me, why they cannot supply me with a few satisfied customers. Maybe there are none?

I'm looking forward to everyone else's opinion on these heads

See ya

Pro Comp is cast in China. That said, some of their heads are good, as in they work and can make more power that the stock factory iron head they are replacing. Buy them bare and buy quality hardware and have a reputable shop set them up. Like all, they respond to porting. But do your homework and see who is actually running them.

When doing homework for my dads 440 build, I looked into the Pro Comp B/RB head and what I found was they are a copy of the Edelbrock Victor Head, meaning they require offset rockers and I think headers to clear an angled spark plug. We ended up using 915 heads.

Sorry..missed the 440 note...for BB there are the Stealth heads also from 440Source

I bet Bryce at Airwolf can probably do a number on the Big Block heads too. Only thing is it will take him 2-3 weeks to call you back. Lol

His shop is probably 45 miles from me. Next time I will just drive over there. Harder to hide that way. haaaa

Thanks for all the opinions guys.
I read the thread on Bryce's Airwolf 220's.
These are small block heads.
We are talking about big block heads here.
If Bryce can do the same improvements on big block heads for about the same price point using quality parts, I can sure be a fan of his.
I believe he is using his own castings with narrowed down water jackets(thicker walls), so he can open up the intakes without them becoming water injection heads LOL. The impression I am getting is he is not using Procomp heads
