Does anyone know where I can source pinion preload shims for an early (1965) 7.25” rear end. The only thing I can find are pinion depth shims which are much too big.

The shims I’m looking for are 1.446 od x 1.197” id (give or take a couple .001”).

Thanks!

the early 7.25 axle you have uses pinion bearing preload shims that ranged from 0.074 - 0.106 which are pretty much obsolete now - closest shim pack is for a Dana 44 used in Jeep applications which have an O.D. of 1.450 and an I.D. of 1.140 so you would have to open up the I.D. a bit. this shim pack is available from Ratech Manufacturing as part # Ratech 1114 and thru Summit Racing (they have 10 in stock) . you would also have to order 2-3 shim packs to make up the thickness you need as the range of each shim pack is 0.020 - 0.050.

Local Machine Shop may have something on their new/used stock shelf that could accommodate you, or be tweaked to your specs.
