Hey guys! I had some questions so I know on these Abodies there is a main power source that feeds off of the engine bay and passes thru to the gauge cluster amp gauge then to the ignition switch and headlight switch etc.

Question#1 the main power that feeds off of the starter relay and goes inside the cab, does this also go to the main power of the ignition switch and headlight?

Question#2 does the black thick wire on the alternator also enter the cab and is connected behind the amp gauge in the dash?

Question#3 where does the main power from the headlights connect?

Reason I ask is because I want to add thicker gauge wires to these main power connections.

Thanks

No, don't go to that MAD site, unless you like taking maybe-well-intended but poorly-informed, half-baked, bad advice.

Instead, read this about upgrading the car's main wires, and this about upgrading the headlight circuit.

Huhboy. I've never had the pleasure; I've just been judging him and his outfit by the crap he publishes on his website.

Anyone who's been in the car hobby for awhile has run into people who merit that description "interesting" if we're being polite and diplomatic.

Some of them don't deserve that courtesy.

As usual NObody should DARE question slanty whauz 'uz name. The MAD site may or may not be your cup of tea BUT THEY DO a fair job of explaining the why and the fail of the ammeter circuit, and that simple little diagram very well illustrates the primary power/ charge path in a way that is easily understood, if you dislike digging through OEM diagrams.

One thing you all can rest assured. I will NEVER refer to slanty whuz 'iz name as "interesting."

you know why people go to the MAD site? because he explains the why and the how in basic, simple terms broken down into easy digest segments and then exhibits easy to understand diagrams and pics.

Because other people reflexively tell them to when the subject of upgrading old-car charging and headlamp circuitry comes up.
if it grinds your gears so much, why not make a informative sticky? i'd much rather toss somebody that link than direct them elsewhere.

btw, your post on .org has dead link in it.

I don't have authority to make stickies, so I do the next-best thing; I squawk when I see the topic come up.

The dead link was to a thread here on FABO; we'd have to ask @Joeychgo why http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=151601 no longer exists or is hidden. Database error or???

If that gets fixed, I'll add it back; for now I've put two new, working links in.

thats a terribly old url structure. I cant do anything with that
You gave me an idea (H'mm, what if the thread ID number is still good and just the URL format is bad?), so I took a look at the URL of this present thread:

https://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threads/early-abody-wiring.576407/

Is that human-readable part of the URL necessary, or can I still pull up this thread if I delete it?

https://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/threads/576407

Yep! So I swapped out this thread's ID number 576407 for that thread's ID number 151601, and presto! There it is.
