Early Cuda trunk prop brackets

Near as I can tell, they started using those covers in the middle of '66. I even have one car with the lower cover but not the upper!(or the holes either) They aren't really a bracket as the hook doesn't actually attach to it. The upper cover in your photo is 180 degrees off. The opening should face toward the center of the trunk lid.
 
Thanks for the info Mark.........I kinda figured them for covers......Mine is starting to eat into the paint at the top location, thought maybe these would help with the issue with a "finished" look as well.

I know, you've probably still got them stashed in a box somewhere. :-D FYI: I plasti-dipped the ends of your shepherd hooks so they won't dig into the paint.
 
She said ......"My Shepherds Hook".......Gunna have to use that one on the wife.
 
Ahhh, thanks Mark. I think I prefer the early ones.
The only problem with the ratchet style is, if someone forgot that you had to lift it first before you pushed down, you could tweak the lid. The problem with the "speargun" is the spring would get weak and not hold the lid high enough....plus there is always tension on the hinges which wears them out a bit faster.
