getting ready to order some Dr Diff axles. it wants to know if for 30 or 35 splines. this is afaik a stock 5:57 gearset. thank you for your time. RR EDIT and would I want to go with green bearings or stock type tapered roller bearings (dirt track stock car, high side loads I'm sure).

i believe that all 8.75's had 30 spline axles, 35 is only for aftermarket spools and lockers (strange, williams, moser).

personally, i'd run stock tapered bearings...

and extra seals/baffles in the tube to keep the oil in the axle and off the brakes.

If I remember correctly, you said you had welded spiders in that rear end. In that case you have a stock open carrier that got welded up. That means 30 spline axles.
Run the tapered bearings.

You have a 30 spline. Unless you have an old 557 center section out of an old " Copar Panzer " or " Pennsylvania Panzer " tractor. Yes that is what they came with a narrowed 8 3/4 rear with 557 gear set. They also had Mopar brakes shoes and drums.

Also green bearings take no side load they are for straight line racing. Or mild tempered street driving.
