easy 904 band adjustment Q

63 dart 360/904 stock car. the car will have shifted easy into 3rd gear before the green flag drops. stock 904. the 2 bands, snug then how many turns backed off? thank you for your time. RR

thank you Dana for the link. cope transmissions had said to adj the L/R band backed off 2 turns from 72 in lbs and the kickdown band to 72 inch lbs then back off 2 turns if single band and 3&1/4 turns if double wrap band. sure seems like alot. also I'm assuming I can just look at the band to see if it is a single or double... and the kickdown band is the front band that is adjusted on the side of the trans? thank you for your time. RR EDIT what fluid do you recommend? and do I need a special socket?

I can not recommend a fluid, but I did not need any special tools to adjust ONE of my bands in my 904 with no ill effects. and yes it feels really loose.

this is the procedure I followed on my 160,000 mile last rebuild trans
