I just found a crack in an intake runner on my 1970 340 x heads. They are hand ported way back when. Given their age is it worth trying to repair them or find another set or would I be happier just getting a new set of edelbrocks and putting them on? It's just a street car and I'm happy with power. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

You don’t need a “pair” of x heads.

pretty much any 360 head could be outfitted with the parts from the cracked x head.
Add some porting, and you’re back on the road.

Now, if you really just want Ede heads...... that’s fine too.

I am NOT small block guy.... but I would look at Promaxx and Speedmaster, either cnc or as-cast, as well as the rpm or Trick Flow.
Mr.Porter'suggestion is a good one!

If the engine has the pistons having a positive deck height at TDC, then the head choices get fewer(depending on how far they stick out).

Pistons are at deck height. I've never heard of speedmaster are they worth it?

Chinese copy of the Edelbrock head....... available in closed chamber only.
Promaxx uses the same casting, but has a few of the machining operations and assembly done in the states.

Unless the machine shop rates in your area are very favorable, in the end it’ll likely be hard to compete, price wise, with a set of assembled speedmasters.
Currently $1165 in Summit.
