right now my car runs pretty cool no more than 180 with back to back pass.i was reading a old car craft mag. that tested a electric fan and got from 5to8 hp at the rear in diff. rpms...i know the fan suppose to add power how much i duuno..right now i have a stock type fan and aluminum rad... would the electric fan and pump drive be as good to run back to back or drive on the street.....i have some fans hust need the pump kit......and how much extra ponys are the pump kit worth most of the time..would love the electric pump but there a little high right now...if the pump kit works out do you go with the o/d pulley.. also whats the deal with the meziere inline pump #680-wp136s never hear about them being used for anything..

I have the Meziere electric pump on my car with an electric fan and aluminum radiator. How much HP it adds I don't know but I've read it can be as much 30-35 HP at 7000 RPM. It keeps my Scamp very cool, in fact it's hard to warm up but that car is all open under hood (chassis car). The Duster (stock chassis car) was a different story, I'd have to cool it between rounds, especially in the summer, forget trying to run it round robbin. Forget driving it on the street either.

The inline pump kits are more for like an altered or dragster application where space at the front of the engine may be limited but you could make it work it's just that the plumbing would probably cost as much as just buying the direct fit pump.

thank guitar thats some pretty good hp if it works out to be that much...i still may go this route cause i dont drive it alot but could slow down on the back to back runs ....

I use the CSR water pump assembly and electric fans [two of them] on my dart. Two separate circuits for the fans/water pumps. Therefore, I can control warm up and cool down. At the track, I will use one fan in cool weather and both as needed. As for horse power, I would agree, anywhere from 5 to 15 hp is gained when using electric systems. Also, w/the CSR pump vs. the moroso "drive" system, the CSR seems to work a bit more efficiently. I can go "rounds" with minimum cool down time with the CSR pump, where as the "stock" pump and moroso drive system takes an extra 5 to 7 minutes to cool down to 135-140 degrees. [I like to enter the water box @ 140 to 150 degrees and stage no more than 160] A side bar to all of this, is the oil temperature. I will not go down the track w/o the oil temp @ at least 140! I would perfer 160 to 180 but this only happens when I go rounds!

Enjoy.

I've used the cheapie Mr Gasket electric drives and the Meziere. I like the idea od havign the ability to leave the pump and fans on after a run if needed, and turn the fan off on the line. I learned a while ago how much power they use. I was in a street race and the PS belt came off, taking the Alt belt too. The car made so much more power in 2nd it broke loose and I was taken by surprise. So any race/bracket car now has the electric pump, fan, and fuel pump. Less parasitic loss the better and they are very reliable when wired properly.

ya thanks for the reply guys i do plan to install this stuff sometime this jan...like moper said you can lrt the fans run while you wait....i tossed the belt before also and car went a 10th faster.......now new ?? will my mopar alter. be okay with this stuff...only other thing one the car is the fuel pump holley blue....if my amp meter is right in my old baby it shows right at 30 or 40 when i get on it....dont want to change to the electric fan/pump kit then have to upgrade the alter. at the same time...i do plan to upgrade the alter. soon but not all at once....

ay thoughts do i did to change the alt. just to run thr fan/wter pump kit and fuel pump...hate to get it on and out and need a jump..

I really don't feel that an electric water pump is ever a good idea on a street car.

As far as electric fans…. IMHO they are the way to go. Running a thermostatically controlled switch is the best for street applications but at the track a simple on/off switch is fine. Another cool set up i have seen is a throttle switch that cuts fan power at wide open throttle.

During a pass you shouldn't need or be running the fans.

I just got finished installing one in my car. That sucker pulls way more air than the mechanical fan. But, I did put the mechanical fan in a box and placed in my trunk in the event of a failure.

which fan did you use???as far as the water pump kit i dont think i should have a problem with it right now i run the alu. rad. and fan mount to the water pump no shroud it only gets 180 run after run with back to back runs no problem.....so it should be fine i think with the limited use of my car...plus the fan will be closer and closed in(shroud) on it...trip down the track i fig. just shut it off once trought on reture lane back on.....
