Electrical Question

While wiring up my coil i put the posi wire on the negative side and the negative on the posi. When i put power to it i heard a loud pop sound that sounded like it came from the coil. Did i fry the coil? Is the resister blown also. Just disconnect everything. Putting car together for the first time. Everything new. Electronic ignition in my 69 dart

I would check the back of the resister and see if it is burnt. If not check it with a ohm meter just to make sure. Heck might as well make sure you have everything connected right this time and try to fire it up.

But that doesn't mean somthing didn't go wrong. Check the voltage across the resistor. If okay, try starting it with the wiring in the correct position.
