Well it was inevitable.

A local wrecking yard with several 60s mopars. (Early As, 67 thru 76 A bodies, B and C bodies)

Has had its final sale day.

The property and all cars and equipment was sold to the city who will no doubt crush the remaining 2 to 300 cars from the 40s, Ford, Chevy, Mopar, and every modern car company known.

My guess is it will become houses or industrial.

RIP Elliot's Auto in Daconno, CO.

sad all of my fav salvage yards are gone
in my 20s would go picking ....never know what you could find
seen a c1 vette no nose /engine ect down a hill ,should have bought it think he wanted $500 ..he forgot it was there ...two months later it was gone

I still see a little open air space you could have crammed some more parts in . :poke: I agree Dana, getting harder to find anything good anymore.

It is sad. We have a modern yard just 3 miles down the road that closed up. Been in business since the 1950s. We used to get out of school almost everyday and stomp all over that yard. They're becoming a thing of the past. These newer generations won't know how cool it was to search yards and find cool deals.

You need to bigger Jeep
The cars are all well picked over .

A 67 barracuda I picked almost clean, had a perfect roof section, and a hand full of others body parts.

I guess I could have strapped it to the roof

Think could have strapped a rear clip up there
I barely was able to use a long prybar to lift the front of a 67 dart to get the front bumper off.

Most every car is sitting on the dirt (or should I say mud) it rained all night last night.

Not to mention I'm not strong enough to lift it up there by myself anymore, maybe when I was in my 20s

When I used to go into a parts yard, I would pop up the back seats and scrounge coins and whatever. Some yards had all the back seats already popped up, and some didn't. You'd be surprised how profitable that was on several occasions.

I just can't believe you went to the boneyard without a trailer
If I had the land i would go buy up every 60s Mopar in the wrecking yards and when the y come up for sale cheap.

Sadly I'm a suburban dweller

I look for signs as to when it got the the yard. A 66 Barracuda has a 1980 nickel in it. It was only 25 years old ( or there about) when scrapped

Here's a Funny... I pulled a GearBox from Speedway Salvage down on Hall St. in Saint Louis sometime in the late 80's or early 90's...
My Dad Eyed all the Classic Car AshTrays and came up with a handful of old roaches (*ahem if you dig) while I worked.
It started to rain so we took cover in an old road runner and made Vroom Vroom noises while we smoked all those old Roaches! :D
Miss You Pop! You were a Blast!!

You’re also starting to see the mega junkyards that LKQ are running, where they are getting the salvage cars and striping them to sell the parts to the repair shops. There was one outside Eugene Oregon that must be 500 acres

We have something similar going on here. There's a "local" (on the other side of the Cities), "ma & pa", all-Ford JY that is going out of business (Joe's Auto Sales in Hastings, MN). I think I've spent well over 100 hours combing through there over the years, and have spent thousands....

I'm trying to get out there for one last "hurrah" as soon as possible/before they close, as I'd like to find some odds and ends for my two late 60's trucks.

Sad.

I don't get out there too much anymore, but French Lake still has a fair amount of old stuff you could check out.

Colorado had some of the best wrecking yards all over with allot of Mopar. I lived in Littleton and collected allot the parts I used to rebuild my R/T from many yards out there. Good times.

Too bad you guys lost another and thanks for saving what you could.

(Sheesh!) I haven't been out there in years, not since I sold my last '69 Mach 1, and that was in....(OMG!)....1997!

I wonder if they have any "bumpside" parts....

Yeah, time slips away pretty fast... It's probably been 10 years since I've gotten up there- but that's a 3-4 hour trip for me (longer with all the potty breaks now), so I need additional reasons to be in the twin cities area nowadays.

There’s still an active salvage yard in the middle of the Mitten. He is buying all the old cars from other yards that are closing. One near him had over 3500 cars. I bought more than a few things from that yard before they crushed out. Here’s a few pics and the contact info should any of you want to come up a peruse the yard. He is just getting used to selling stuff online now that he has a few younger folks helping him.

A few more and the contact info. There’s about 1000 other cars I didn’t take pictures of. I’ll be up there again in May carousing around on my work weekend up there.
