Yet another question for you guys.

My 360 engine is balanced externally with the dampner and flywheel. I had always intended on putting the engine in a 4 spd car and the truck its in now is also a 4 spd.

The kicker is the Dart I just bought is an Automatic, console shift 340 swinger and I like the look of the factory setup and since its a original 340 car I don't want to ruin it by swapping in a 4 spd.

Do I have to get the whole engine re-balanced now to a flexplate and torque convertor? Or is there a different option?

Thanks

If your wanting to put the 360 in a car with a neutral balanced torque converter you can use this Ati flexplate Part#915683.

Using the flexplate snewpy said will work but if you want it to be perfectly balanced just take your flexplate back to where you had ithe engine balanced and they should have the papers on file where they balanced your engine and can check it and correct it if it's off. A buddy of mine did the same as your doing. Had an engine balanced for a manual then bought a different car with an auto and he took the B&M flexplate back to the shop to have him check it. It was close enough to work ok but to make it perfect he had to add a little weight.

Just wondering here, is it hard/expensive to internally balance a 360? As in is it the reciprocating weight that is too high, or the crank/counterweights?

This is the right way to do it,just in case you dont have numbers you can take the flywheel/pressure plate in and they can get the readings they need off those to balance your flexplate correctly.
