i have a 73 duster with 360 headers cam and pertronix ign, at first i couldnt get 4 barrel working and now that i have at quick takeoffs when its nice and warm sometimes it bogs down like starving for gas not sure if thats it,i did notice now at first start up it is hard to keep idling until it warms up a little, i have auto choke should i try turning the dial a little maybe its choking itself out? thanks

If the engine doesn't have a load on it will it rpm normally? Then if when put in gear what does it do? When you try to bring the rpm's up? Does it rpm slow or does it struggle to build rpm's?

it idles and runs great once warm, starts great its a fresh engine with about 500 miles on it, but when i want to get on it from dead stop sometimes it just bogs out and i let of gas and its goes on its way fine, seems like it started when i was messing with four barrel and got it working, and like i say only does it from dead stop, wonder if i need to adjust choke . or if the 4 barrel starves it for gas some times, i hope i make sense its just odd when it started because it never did it until i got 4 barrel working. thanks

Sound's like the problem is the secondaries are comming in too fast and the engine cant take the amount of air and can't pull the fuel out of the carb fast enough, causeing the bog.

Not your choke. Choke should be out of the picture (choke valve vertical) when engine is warm. Next thing I would look for is vacuum leaks. Generally if you have a fuel supply problem the engine wont bog, but will starve out at higher RPM. You could try giving it more accelerator pump shot by moving the rod to the inner hole on the pump arm. Are you sure it's not weak spark? Do you see black smoke out of the back when you floor it? Have somebody follow you if need be.

You say you are running an Eddy right? Performer or AVS? A misadjusted air door on an AVS will cause a bog. A performer or AFB with the secondary air valve removed can be touchy as well.

Then again, if it bogs when you floor it off the line, don't floor it off the line.

edlebrock 600 cfm auto choke, i am not sure it says weber on side, i dont always floor it just want to be able to if needed, and like everything to work right. no black smoke i should have plenty of spark running pertronix 2 with flame thrower coil. thanks

Whats the carb number? Has the carb been modified? Have the counterweights for the air valve been lightened? Is the float level correct? What hole is the pump rod in? What are the jets, rods and springs? Is your PCV system set up right? Does your vacuum advance diaphragm leak? What is your vacuum at idle?

There are lots of things that would be helpful to know. If the carb has been "tuned" (monkeyed with) I would say thats probably your problem. But not knowing where you are now it's hard to know what to suggest.
